If you haven’t already noticed, I have been in the blogging mindset heavily lately. I had an idea come to me the other day, and just knew that I would have some interested readers! I get questions all the time from people who are interested in becoming a makeup artist. It’s a profession that has become more popular within the past few years, thanks to YouTube and blogging. Because of this, my inbox gets flooded with questions about certifications, licenses, how to gain a clientele and so much more. Rather than reaching out to individual people, I decided to create a whole series dedicated to what it takes to be a makeup artist.
“But Mallory, I don’t want to be a makeup artist…”
Now, this series isn’t only for aspiring makeup artists–it’s also for those of you who are just curious as to what I do on the weekends and summers. Makeup artistry is NOT for everyone, and that’s okay! It’s a very profitable business with a lot of moving parts that are so interesting to people who aren’t in the business. Maybe you know someone who’s interested in becoming an artist, or have a slight interest in it. Everyone will enjoy this series!
What To Expect
During this series, I will cover a TON of valuable information if becoming a makeup artist is something that interests you! I’m hoping to put out one post a week on this topic, as well as my regularly scheduled content. For reference, I will be using the hashtag #SYWTBAMA (long…I know) for this series!
I will be covering:
- Certification/license–is it worth it?
- What I wish I knew before becoming a makeup artist
- How to build a kit
- Tips and tricks to build a clientele
- How to network with other artists
- Tips and tricks from other artists
- + A ton more!
If this sounds like a series that you are excited for, leave a comment below with questions you have about becoming a makeup artist!
