Hey girl hey! I am so excited to finally reveal my final rebranding! Lipstick and Lesson Plans is now and forever Mally Elizabeth. This rebranding has been a long time coming, and I’m so excited to share my final vision with all of you. There are so many behind the scenes things that went on during this rebranding, and it’s been super rewarding for me so far. If you’re interested to read allllll about the process, keep on reading!
First and foremost, what’s new?
Well, a lot of my blog will be similar, and a lot will be different. Of course, the name has changed (which I’ll get more into later.) My colors/theme have not changed, as pink and rose gold will forever be my faves! You will still be able to expect the same beauty related content, but with my rebranding, I will be doing EVEN MORE. I’ll be adding in more posts about college life, as well as body positivity and posts about life in general as well.
My new mood board
For my blog, the color scheme has NOT changed. Like I said, I love pink and rose gold too much to give it up. However, this time around, I created a mood board for inspiration. I just simply went onto Pinterest, found a moodboard template, and filled in the things that inspire me. Having a mood board is imperative, because it allows you to continually get inspiration for your brand. When you come to my blog, I want you to be able to see my mood board come to life. I made this when I first started the rebranding process, and as you can see…a lot has changed even after I made this. That’s okay! As long as I have a vision, and can look at this mood board for inspiration, I’m good!
Why the rebranding?
There were a few different reasons behind my rebranding. My main reason of rebranding was due to my old name, Lipstick and Lesson Plans. Since I will no longer be teaching, I felt like the “lesson plans” part didn’t represent me. You can read all about why I decided to give up on teaching here if you missed that post! Secondly, and most importantly, I have been dying to write about more than just beauty. I want to write more about life. Admittedly, I could have done that before. However, now having my brand as my name, I am open to so many different possibilities for my writing.
Was rebranding difficult?
Yes and no. The part that I thought would be the most difficult, switching over my website name through my domain host, was actually the easiest. All I had to do was email my hosting site and ask them to switch my information over from lipstickandlessonplans.com to mallyelizabeth.com. I have to say, A2 Hosting was AMAZING throughout the entire process. They were super quick with their responses, and kept the price of my new domain name super cheap. Plus, they did EVERYTHING for me. That was huge! The whole process took about an hour, and I didn’t have to do a single minute of the behind the scenes “techie” stuff.
However, the difficult part was going through and changing links (which I’m not done with yet!) and redoing all of my graphics on my blog. I think that’ll be a process that I will be continually doing for the rest of the summer. I was fully prepared to take a few months off of blogging to focus on the rebrand, but I’m so excited that I don’t have to. Now with my new brand, I feel even more motivated to write as much as I can.
What is my vision for Mally Elizabeth?
I’ve learned the hard way a few times in the blogging business to keep that to myself 🙂 However, I definitely see more partnerships and collaboration. That is my goal this year with my blog. One of my visions is to put out a lot more relatable content as well. I want my blog to be a place where you leave better than you arrived. I want you to walk away with a little bit of wisdom mixed with sarcasm and a smile. One of my passions is writing about makeup and my opinions on it, but I want to help make you feel beautiful on the inside too. No amount of makeup will ever make you feel good if you don’t truly love yourself.
Help! I want to rebrand my blog too!
I would love to help! Having been through my first rebranding, I wouldn’t consider myself an expert. However, I made sure to do a ton of research into the who, what, when, and where of rebranding. It can be tedious, it can be exhausting, it can be discouraging, but you have to do your research. Rebranding is more than just picking a new name and going with it. It’s all about remarketing yourself, and giving your readers a new experience.
