Hey girl hey! I don’t know about ya’ll, but I am definitely one of those people who drinks coffee until its socially acceptable to drink wine. I never really realized the ramifications it had on my teeth until a few months ago when I went to the dentist for my six-month checkup. During my check up, I told my hygienist that I wished my teeth were whiter, and she explained to me that it had a lot to do with my drinking habits. Typically, I drink coffee every single day, and I drink red wine more than two times a week. This was causing my teeth to get slightly discolored. I knew when Smile Brilliant reached out to me that I wanted to try their products! If you want to hear my new favorite way to whiten my teeth, keep scrolling down! PS: there is a giveaway at the end!
Getting Your Impressions
The first step to beginning the whitening process is getting your impressions. This, in my opinion, is the coolest part about Smile Brilliant! You are getting custom made trays that specifically fit YOUR teeth. You don’t have to deal with strips falling off, or not getting every part of your teeth with a toothbrush. The impressions are molded to your teeth perfectly. To do this, they send you a kit with step-by-step instructions on how to use it. Once you take your impressions, you ship them back to Smile Brilliant, and within a week, you receive your custom fit trays. How cool is that?!
The Whitening Process
The whitening process is so simple and easy. I like to do mine while I’m catching up on Netflix or writing a paper. First and foremost, the best time to whiten is right before bed. The reasoning behind this is that it guarantees that you are not adding staining factors directly after you whiten. This also allows your teeth to rehydrate and remineralize while you sleep. The way I look at it is that the whitening gel can work its magic overnight so you can wake up with amazing results! Before I begin the process, I always brush my teeth with no toothpaste to make sure my teeth are free of plaque or any other factors that would work against the whitening.
Next, you want to add the whitening gel to your trays. One syringe of the gel is good for up to 3 uses, so you don’t need to go heavy handed! Just a little bit will do the trick. Typically, I whiten for about an hour. However, you can whiten anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours with Smile Brilliant! This all depends on your sensitivity level. Since I have decently sensitive teeth, I try not to go for too long.
After you have whitened, you should brush your teeth as you normally would with the toothpaste you use. I always use Crest toothpaste, but any toothpaste works well at this point. If you go with the sensitive kit, this would be the time to add your desensitizing gel to the trays. I always clean my tray off first then apply the gel for about 15 minutes. The desensitizing gel really helps to calm your teeth down if you experience any pain. I will say, although I have sensitive teeth, I have never felt like my teeth have hurt while whitening!
Lastly, GO TO SLEEP! This is the last step, and one of the most important steps! Your teeth need time to rehydrate and remineralize like I mentioned before. Like I also said, I feel like this gives your teeth time to really take in the whitening process!
After a few weeks of trying out this kit, I have to say I definitely notice a difference! Since I recently got engaged, I have been doing all I can to make sure that I look my best on my wedding day, and I know that Smile Brilliant will help my smile stand out. I have a lot of years of coffee and wine to try to erase, and my Smile Brilliant kit is giving me back the confidence to help me do that.
