Hey girl hey! I love the positivity that comes with a New Year. There is so much potential that January 1st brings. With the New Year comes resolutions. I am definitely the type of person to start resolutions. However, this year, I am going to attempt to keep all of my resolutions! In today’s post, I’m going to talk about some beauty related resolutions for you to consider when making a list of all of the things you want to accomplish this year. If you want to hear all about some easy makeup, skincare, and hair care related goals, keep on scrolling!
Note: I understand that makeup is not for everyone! I am in no way saying that everyone needs to set beauty related resolutions this year. These are just some ideas if you ARE interested in setting these kinds of resolutions. Wearing makeup is a personal decision that only you can make. I am not insinuating that you need to wear makeup on a regular basis!
1. Take the time to do your hair and makeup
I cannot tell you how many of my clients or friends have told me that they feel like they never have time to do makeup because they’re constantly doing for others. I’m sure many of you can relate. This year, make yourself a priority! You deserve to feel good about yourself and your appearance. Wake up 10 minutes early and put on a little mascara and blush. You will be amazed at how confident you feel after taking those few minutes to take care of yourself!
2. Incorporate a consistent skincare routine
This is one of the biggest resolutions that I believe EVERYONE should take on this year! Every single person who reads this can benefit from utilizing quality skincare on a daily basis. My biggest tip is to go somewhere where you can sample products and try before you buy. Sephora is a great place to do this, because they offer three free samples to every client who walks through their door. For the skincare beginner, start off with a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer. As you become more advanced with skincare, add in serums, exfoliators, peels, and acids. You will notice such a huge difference in 2020 if you do this now!
3. Master a certain technique
Have you spent all of 2018 scrolling through your Instagram wondering how these Instagram girls get the perfect smokey eye, or the best winged liner? Let 2019 be the year that you learn how to execute the looks you have been dying to try. Check out Youtube for tutorials on certain looks and keep practicing every time you get the chance. If you have any ideas for techniques you want to master, message me! I would love to help you reach that goal!
4. Spend at least one day a week makeup-free
This is something I did in 2018 and I cannot tell you how much it helped my skin! Makeup can be so clogging for our pores, so when we let it breathe for a day or two, it really makes a difference. On my makeup-free day, I like to make sure I add in my skincare that isn’t meant to be used daily, such as masks or peels. If you are someone who wears makeup daily, I highly suggest going without it a few days a week!
5. Take off your makeup before bed every night
This is one that I am for sure going to make a high priority this year. I can get pretty lazy and either just use a face wipe and take off some of it, or just sleep with a full face occasionally. This year, that will not be the case. In order to help implement this resolution, I’m going to keep micellar water and a moisturizer close to my bed so I have no excuse to not take everything off.
6. Try new products
I’m a sucker for purchasing makeup 24/7, so I need the opposite of this resolution (lol). However, if you’re someone who has a small kit of essentials, make 2019 the year that you step out of your comfort zone and try something new! Maybe you’ve had your eye on a highlight palette, or a foundation. If it’s within your budget, grab it!
7. Hire a makeup artist for a lesson
My favorite appointments are lesson appointments, because clients always have so much fun learning different techniques. If you want to elevate your makeup game this year, find a makeup artist in your area and see if they do lessons! Lessons are such a fun way to try products and techniques that are catered to your face and eye shape. You can’t get more customized than that!
Side note: I offer lessons for those of you in the Fort Wayne area who are interested. I charge $55 for a lesson where I do one half of your face, and you do the other! Please message me if this sounds like something you would like to schedule!
8. Regularly wash your brushes
This is another one that I am hoping to implement in 2019! I use a daily brush spray on all of my brushes, but I’m making it a goal to really deep clean my brushes on a regular basis. Cleaning your brushes is not only sanitary, but it helps your makeup apply better. I totally notice a difference when I actually take the time to wash them versus just spot cleaning them.
There you have it! Some 2019 beauty resolutions that you can start working toward today! What is your beauty related resolution for 2019?
These are great! I don’t wear make-up regularly, really only when I feel like it but I definitely need to do 2 &5 in 2019!
I can’t wait to see what beauty goals you add to your list in 2019!
I am definitely trying to wash my brushes more in 2019! I think I am going to specifically add it in my planner! I also want to master some techniques, specifically winged liner and contour! Great post babe!
Ooooh that’s a good idea to add it to your planner!
These are great! Love all of these. No matter what I always take my makeup off before I go to bed. I honestly don’t know how women comfortably sleep with it on as I love feeling fresh faced when I lay down. It just feels a little slimy to me if I did. Thanks for these!
I need to be better about it! I always feel better with a clean face!
Love these!!!! I struggle so much with cleaning my brushes. Ugh, gross… I KNOW!
Ok girl same lol!
