Hey girl hey! There is so much that goes into planning for your big day. There are so many moving parts to making sure your big day fits your vision. One of the main things I hear from brides is that they want to make sure they look their best on their wedding day. Many brides opt to do teeth whitening, diet plans, and even work toward a new hair color for the day of. A major element of making sure you look your best rests in taking care of your skin. In today’s post, I am going to be talking all about how to make sure your skin glows on your wedding day. If you are a bride looking to start a routine, keep on scrolling!

1. Cut out foods that might contribute to acne or any other skin issues.
Many brides will explain to me during their trial that they struggle with acne. During this time, I will ask them their skincare routine, how often they switch out product, and if they wash their sheets. However, typically, I notice that the issue might be in what they eat. About 6 months prior to your wedding, try cutting out dairy and sugar to see what happens. Dairy and sugar are both major contributors to acne, and cutting them out can drastically help with any skin issues you may have. Foods like kale, berries, avocados, and eggs help to promote a radiant complexion!
2. Find a good esthetician/facialist.
Your wedding is one of the biggest days of your life, so finding a skincare expert to help guide you to the best treatments and products for you is vital. Microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, and regular facials may help you to get that bridal glow that you are wanting for your big day. I always recommend getting facials at least once a month for 3-6 months before your wedding, and getting other treatments as needed. If you are in the Fort Wayne area, I highly suggest Misty Hernandez at Evolve Spa. She is one of the only other people on this planet that I will trust to touch my face, and my skin always feels incredible after an appointment with her!
3. Stick to a consistent routine.
One of the biggest things to consider for your skin is a routine that makes sense for you. Although I am a huge advocate for using your wedding as an excuse to be boujee and get the most expensive products, you don’t have to! There are so many amazing products right at the drugstore, and many other alternatives that are online but still affordable. This is a great time to find serums, masks and oils that will help reveal brighter, healthier skin. Below are some products that I highly suggest for brides. Many of these products are things I will be using on my own skin to prep for my wedding!
4. Limit sun exposure.
This is something you should do even if you’re NOT getting married, but its extra important to do while you are prepping for your wedding. We all know the sun damages your skin more than anything. I always recommend getting a violet based spray tan that mimics the natural deep brown tones that the skin takes on after a good tan. If you absolutely cannot avoid the sun, make sure you are using a great SPF that will keep you covered all day. Make sure to reapply at least every 2 hours and every time you get in the water. I have listed some of my favorite SPFs below for you to check out!
5. Take your vitamins.
I have never been a huge vitamin girl until recently. A company called Beauty Chews sent me a box of their Antioxidant Glow Complex gummies, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I think its safe to say that I’m not sure how I lived without these before. I find myself wearing less makeup, using less moisturizer, and seeing a noticeable glow everyday. Taking just two per day with a meal will help to transform your skin. You can purchase a box here!
6. Get lots of sleep.
I know it can feel like mission impossible to get a good night’s sleep while wedding planning. If I had a dollar for every wedding nightmare I had, I could probably pay for a destination wedding in Dubai with cash. However, sleep is so important. If you need to take a sleeping supplement (my favorite is InstaSleep!) or diffuse some lavender oil, then so be it. Do whatever you possibly can to get the best sleep you can. Sleep is so good for the skin, because it gives it time to regenerate and renew itself.
7. Drink lots of water.
I think this one is pretty self explanatory. Water is basically the cure all for everything. Water will help to flush out any toxins in your body that may be causing harm to your skin. What helps me to drink water throughout the day is to get a really cute water bottle. Find one that fits your personality, or make one yourself. Make sure it gets filled up multiple times throughout the day.
