About The Ordinary
According to their website, The Ordinary is “an evolving collection of treatments offering familiar, effective clinical technologies positioned to raise pricing and communication integrity in skincare. The brand was created to celebrate integrity in its most humble and true form. Its offering is pioneering, not in the familiar technologies it uses, but in its honesty and integrity. The Ordinary is born to disallow commodity to be disguised as ingenuity.” They describe themselves as having “clinical formulations with integrity.” The fall under an umbrella brand called Deciem, which focuses on cruelty free, chemically unique products. Their aim is to create new ingredients that focus on clear, beautiful skin.
However, so many people are constantly asking, “What’s the catch?” If you scroll through their website, it’s easy to ask this question. How can supposedly high end products be so affordable? The main thing to keep in mind here is that everything is made in their own labs. They are not outsourcing to other labs, they are not using ingredients from other sources, everything is created right in house. They even go so far as to manufacturing the products in house as well. This helps to cut down on prices significantly.
Also, if you take a look at their packaging, it’s nothing over the top. Oftentimes, you aren’t paying for the ingredients with your most expensive products, you’re paying for the elaborate packaging it comes in. I don’t know about you, but I would much rather have an amazing, skin-changing product with minimal packaging versus a product with awesome packaging that doesn’t perform as well. The Ordinary’s products come with very simple, classic packaging that allows for a lower price point.
The Ordinary has a number of products that can either be your entire skincare routine, or be added to an existing routine. They have everything from retinol products to toners. I’m going to share some of my favorite products with you! Keep in mind: I have pretty normal skin, but it is on the sensitive side.
Probably one of their most iconic products! This peeling solution works to exfoliate while adding increased radiance to the skin. It helps with everything from blemishes to dull skin. It’s truly a miracle worker. I use it twice a week, at night, and only keep it on for about 3 minutes max. Because I’m super sensitive, I don’t put it on for the recommended 10 minutes. The Ordinary does not recommend this for sensitive skin, but I find I can use it if I rinse it off sooner.
This toner, also an exfoliating product, helps to improve the texture of skin over time. Used preferably at night, The Glycolic Acid Toner has so many good for you ingredients that help your skin glow from the inside out. I really do credit this toner for giving me more of a radiant glow!
I love a good balmy cleanser. I feel like my makeup comes off so much easier! This cleanser is definitely my favorite “balm” cleanser. Simply squeeze out a dime size amount, warm it up in your hands until it melts into an oil and massage into the skin. It takes off all makeup, and makes your skin feel SO clean!
Fun fact: Resveratrol is an antioxidant that is found in grapes. When grapes turn into raisins, they lose resveratrol. So when you apply it to your skin, it helps to plump up fine lines and wrinkles! On top of that, it helps to protect your skin from any free radicals in the environment. To apply, use it after toning and before moisturizing as a serum.
So is it really worth it?
Yes, yes, yes, 100%! I’m still so shocked that they can sell their products for SO cheap. I always know when I use a product from The Ordinary that I am getting a quality product that actually does what it says. The name of the products can be super overwhelming, however, if you read the box, it makes it so easy! Each product comes with in-depth instructions on how to use the product. You don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars on a quality skincare routine when it comes to The Ordinary, and I could not recommend them more.
Below, I have linked a ton of their products. Please click through and read the descriptions! You will definitely find your new favorite product!
